John Smith talks to Lincs FM Farming Programme at Open Day

 In Company news

We were pleased to welcome the Lincs FM Farming Programme along to our recent open day in Louth to meet our manufacturers and customers and find out what lies ahead for us, and the industry, this year. Presenter Sean Dunderdale took the opportunity to catch up with our managing director (and radio regular) John Smith. He started by asking what’s coming up for Louth Tractors.

They then went on to discuss the benefits of the mighty Case IH Quadtrac – and how it really came into its own during the wet and difficult autumn just gone. And how the advantages of strip-till are becoming increasingly apparent with big environmental changes ahead.

“I think even farmers can’t be grumpy forever – me being one of them!”

Next up was his general outlook for farming this New Year, on the back of LAMMA, and how the farmers he’s talking to have become more optimistic after overcoming the difficulties of November and December.

“We’ve a massive window of opportunity to sow crops between now and May”

And they finished off with John’s predictions for a much better year ahead for farmers, with opportunities always emerging out of challenging times.
